Job summary

Veritiv is seeking a Senior Project Manager to independently manage large IT programs and complex projects across the organization. You will coordinate activities, align initiatives with business goals, and drive efficiency through cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting, risk management, and collaboration with senior leaders to deliver on strategic objectives. Excellent communication and strong ERP/CRM experience are required.

Job description

Job Purpose

Our Senior Project Manager functions independently to manage programs and large projects related to Veritiv’s internal and external information systems, effectively communicating and coordinating the activities of the project team. These programs and projects are highly complex, have senior level business manager sponsorship, and require the coordination of project activities across functional areas within the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align IT initiatives with the organization's long-term objectives, identifying areas of improvement, and suggesting innovative solutions to drive efficiency and productivity. Facilitates ideation through a defined innovation process and engages the “appropriate” stakeholders to support.
  • Effectively communicate program status to stakeholders, and appropriately elevate issues to management attention.
  • Work closely with project sponsor, cross‑functional teams, and assigned project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives. Articulate the goals and objectives of the program and how it will impact the business.
  • Manage program and project teams for optimal return on investment, and coordinate and delegate cross‑project initiatives. Ensure portfolio optimization, business goal alignment, and business value alignment across the program.
  • Identify key requirements for cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
  • Develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives.
  • Work with other project managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for managers and stakeholders.
  • Roll up project reporting across projects to the program. Identify and manage the interdependencies between projects within the program.
  • Ensure resource capacity and availability across projects within the program.
  • Manage the IT components of Veritiv’s programs and projects.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Agile/SCRUM or Project Management Institute PMP Certification.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Work Experience
  • 3-5 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
  • 5-10 years of related job experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
  • Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
  • Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, contract management, CRM systems and project management tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong planning and organization skills are required.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) - Project Management Institute
