The Role: IT Configuration Management (CMDB), Site Reliability Engineering
The Location: Hyderabad
The Team:
This is an individual contributor role in Configuration Management space for the Site Reliability Engineering team. This team supports all the Ratings business applications which are critical for analysts who drive the business through their actions.
The Impact/Scope:
The scope of this position is to define and maintain the configuration management database and relationships between key resources and capabilities required to deliver IT-enabled services, including collecting configuration information, establishing baselines/relationships, verifying and auditing configuration information, and upgrading the configuration repository. He/She should also develop and implement configuration and asset management standards policies and procedures. He/She should have an understanding of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and experience in this environment. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to recommend enhancements to the process as well as identify areas where automation or integration with other tools using AI and Machine Learning can be implemented.

This highly motivated, self-starter will be responsible for developing and maintaining the CMDB contents for accuracy and also build relationships between configuration items (CIs). He will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure those functions can use CMDB information effectively. He will contribute to the development of the Configuration Management strategy, processes, and policy to ensure that Configuration Management remains current and effective. He will also provide coaching and conduct training for CMDB stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding of the Configuration and Asset Management system is in place. The Analyst will work with a wide and dynamic range of global colleagues to ensure that the process is followed and that we are on target for delivering quality data in CMDB. This individual will also be required to effectively communicate with all levels of management and influence decisions/outcomes. Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate a high level of independence, self-management, and superior verbal and written communication.
Responsibilities:
Works closely with requesters, Systems, Resolver teams, CMDB Stakeholders, and Service Delivery Teams to establish business requirements for the CMDB.
Reconcile/Correct the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories.
Assist in defining and registering configuration items (CIs); the appropriate level of attributes, and relationships required to support the CMDB Inventory Management process.
Creating reports for Business consumption from CMDB.
Develops and implements configuration management standards policies and procedures.
Manage the CMDB central library tools and data integrity to ensure CMDB data is current and accurate.
Has knowledge of how the relationships are created and updated in the CMDB such as key IT business services and applications to servers and databases.
Understands best practices and determines optimized procedures for updating CI data including the use of automated processes, discovery tools, integrations with other data sources, and manual input processes as necessary.
Develop and implement best practice standards policies and procedures for planning, recording, monitoring, and maintaining software and hardware assets.
Ensure that the success metrics and monitoring of Configuration Management and Asset Management processes are adhered to.
Provide coaching and conduct training for CMDB stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding of the Configuration and Asset Management system and its relationship to key IT processes.
Supports other IT process owners and functional areas such as Change Management, Problem Management, Incident Management, Release Management, etc.
Develops the naming conventions and standards to be used to uniquely identify object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation versions, formats, baselines, releases, and templates.
Ensure remediation actions are taken for assets approaching End Of life/End Of Support.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering Preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT Configuration Management and Asset Management (minimum 2 years).
Understanding of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and experience in working in the CMDB data model area.
Demonstrated experience in Service Now latest module, specifically Configuration & Asset Management.
Strong understanding of other ITIL processes like Change Management, Asset Management, Release Management, and CMDB.
Capability to pull together reports and dashboards as needed.
Familiarity with Agile Methodology and other execution delivery practices.
Familiarity with DevOps Terminology and practices.
Demonstrated and thorough understanding of Discovery processes and configurations.
Develops and implements configuration and asset management standards policies and procedures.
Manages the population of the CMDB owners and the CMDB central library tools and data integrity ensuring CMDB data is current and accurate.
Experience with CMDB tools is required; Service Now experience is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to work closely with the business community as well as technical resources in a tactful, professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understands best practices and determines optimized procedures for updating CI data including the use of automated processes, discovery tools, integrations with other data sources, and manual input processes as necessary.
Accountable for report generation including configuration status, license consumption, license entitlement, warranty, and other IT asset reporting.
Functional knowledge of hardware, applications, databases, and potential dependencies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to host and drive sessions.
Experience with establishing and capturing measurements and metrics.
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, including Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Word.
Accountable for report generation including configuration status, license consumption, license entitlement, warranty, and other IT asset reporting.
ITIL V3/V4 Foundations and/or other ITIL certification strongly preferred.
