A leading healthcare provider in North Carolina seeks a Nerve Conduction Technologist to assist in neurodiagnostic tests, including nerve conduction studies. This role plays a vital part in diagnosing neurological disorders and requires collaboration with physicians. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and relevant certifications, plus a commitment to patient care.
A Nerve Conduction Technologist assists with neurodiagnostic tests, including nerve conduction studies, to assess the function and integrity of peripheral nerves and muscles. Working under close supervision, this role supports patient education and preparation for electromyography (EMG) procedures. The technologist collaborates with physicians to aid in diagnosing and monitoring neurological disorders, contributing to the development of effective treatment plans.
The technologist helps conduct routine studies to assess brain activity, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders such as epilepsy and sleep disorders. They assist with Brainstem Evoked Potential (BAER) and Visual Evoked Potential tests to evaluate sensory pathways and identify nervous system abnormalities. The role includes faxing Nerve Conduction Reports to referring physicians daily to ensure timely communication.
Responsibilities also include maintaining well-calibrated equipment, sanitizing work environments, and stocking neurodiagnostic supplies to ensure patient safety and infection control. The technologist supports various Nerve Conduction Studies, such as Blink Reflex and Repetitive Nerve Stimulation, to assess nerve function comprehensively. They educate and prepare patients for Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies and EMG to improve diagnostic outcomes. Additionally, they support new employee training and perform other duties as assigned.
