Stanford Children’s Health in Walnut Creek, CA, seeks a Neonatologist (0.8 FTE) to join a multidisciplinary NICU team at John Muir Medical Center.

You will diagnose, treat, and manage premature and critically ill newborns, collaborating with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and families.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship.
  • Eligible for California Medical licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care for newborn infants, including critically ill and premature babies.
  • Diagnose and manage neonatal conditions, congenital disorders, and birth complications.
  • Lead patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  • Perform neonatal procedures, including intubation, central line placement, and resuscitation.
  • Collaborate with obstetric and pediatric teams.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and emergency neonatal care.

Outstanding opportunity for a compassionate, highly skilled Neonatologist to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care for newborn infants. The successful candidate will diagnose, treat, and manage premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns while collaborating closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

This (0.8 FTE) position will be employed by Packard Children’s Health Alliance and practice at:

John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, California

  • Annual Deliveries: ~3000/year

Tri-Valley Medical Center

  • Provide back up support for Pediatric Hospitalists
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical care for newborn infants, including critically ill and premature babies
  • Diagnose and manage neonatal conditions, congenital disorders, and birth complications
  • Lead patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Perform neonatal procedures, including intubation, central line placement, and resuscitation

Required
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient-centered care
  • Both experienced neonatologists and upcoming fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply
Preferred
  • Experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU.
  • Strong leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Experience with quality improvement.
  • Excellent communication and family-centered care skills.
