Responsibilities
Provides medical nutritional therapy to patients by assessing nutritional status, developing a plan of care to maintain or improve nutritional status, periodically evaluating the patient's response to the plan of care, and modifying it as required for optimal outcomes. Counsels patients and/or families about food requirements, eating habits, and therapeutic nutrition. Coordinates nutrition services for patients covered by California Children Services (CCS). The neonatal-pediatric dietitian is expected to maintain professional development via: peer review of neonatal and pediatric nutrition assessments and/or follow-ups by a CCS paneled registered dietitian, quarterly peer meetings to review/share neonatal/pediatric advances or changes in policies. Completion of annual neonatal/pediatric nutrition test, and attendance to one neonatal/pediatric nutrition education activity yearly.
