Job summary

Driscoll Children's Hospital in Laredo, TX seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive newborn care in the Neonatal Care Center. The role includes managing neonatal patients, coordinating care, and educating families, with travel or relocation support available.

Applicants should hold Texas RN/APRN licensure, NNP certification, NRP and BLS/CPR, and a Master’s degree is preferred. Student NNPs may be considered; 24-hour shifts alternate start times to accommodate schedules.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred in nursing or related field.
  • Texas RN/APRN licensure required to practice.
  • NNP certification required or eligible with Texas board approval.
  • NRP and BLS/CPR certifications required for neonatal care.
  • Student NNP considered if enrolled in an approved program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate care for neonatal patients.
  • Obtain maternal and infant health histories and perform physical assessments.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies.
  • Diagnose and treat neonatal conditions.
  • Develop and manage individualized plans of care.
  • Prescribe medications, fluids, respiratory support, nutrition, and therapies.
  • Coordinate specialty consultations and referrals.
  • Educate and support parents and families regarding their infant's condition and plan of care.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, nurses, case managers, specialists, families, and community resources.
