Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution and NP training program Required OR Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program Required.
• Alabama licensure as a nurse practitioner and RN Required or Physician Assistant license in Alabama within 60 days Required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required; NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Required

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily rounds including newborn examinations and chart reviews in the nursery.
• Diagnose and treat neonatal conditions such as jaundice, hypoglycemia, feeding issues, mild distress and sepsis.
• Order and interpret tests (bilirubin, glucose, X-rays) and prescribe medications.
• Coordinate NICU transfers and discharge planning; maintain clinical documentation.
• Provide parental education and collaborate with neonatologists, obstetricians, RNs and therapists.
• Assist in training and mentoring staff and residents; participate in quality improvement and infection control.
