Overview

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Opportunities available in the Melbourne, Florida area. AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are seeking dynamic, innovative, and energetic neonatal nurse practitioners or PA-C to work in the Level 2 NICU at Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) in Melbourne, Florida. The NNP/PA-C will collaborate with the neonatologist to cover the 10-bed Level 2 NICU at HRMC and provide care for the newborn service.

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of physicians, is responsible for:

• Providing care for NICU and newborn patients within the scope of licensure and the supervising physician's scope of practice.
• Evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and ordering and interpreting labs, x-rays, and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines under the guidance of the neonatologist.
• Performing procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines, chest tube placement, and circumcisions.
• Communicating effectively with parents, specialists, and NICU team members.
• Providing education and support to patients’ families.
• Dispensing medications under a collaborative agreement with a supervising physician.

Work Schedule:

24-hour shifts (8 am - 8 am)

Required Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies with Neonatal Certification (required)
• 1-2 years of NICU experience as an RN (highly preferred)
• 1-2 years of NICU experience as a Neonatal APRN or Neonatal PA-C (preferred but not required)

Required Licensure and Certification:

• Valid Florida APRN or PA License with Neonatal certification
• Certification through ANCC or other recognized certifying body
