Job summary

Heartline Staffing is seeking a NICU Clinical Pharmacist Specialist for an onsite role in Houston, TX. The position involves direct clinical services to critically ill neonates within a multidisciplinary team and education/mentorship of students and residents.

The role includes day shifts, five 8-hour shifts, possible relocation assistance, and day-one benefits as part of a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• PharmD required and licensed in Texas.
• Completion of PGY2 in Pediatrics or Critical Care with NICU experience.
• Dedicated NICU clinical pharmacy experience required.
• Experience providing direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates.
• Support continuity of care between patient care areas, pharmacy and other settings.
• Serve as a clinical resource to pharmacy staff, physicians and nurses.
• Educate, mentor and support pharmacy students, staff, residents and peers.
• Participate in orientation and continuing education programs.
• Assist with clinical research evaluating clinical and economic outcomes of drugs and regimens.
• Develop, coordinate and evaluate target drug and restricted drug programs.
• Support medication use performance assessment and improvement.
• Conduct drug utilization reviews.
• Identify opportunities for cost containment.
• Develop and implement utilization reviews for expensive or harmful medications.
• Support clinical pharmacy educational programs for physicians and nursing staff.
• Oversee clinical student and residency programs.
• Continually identify opportunities to improve clinical pharmacy services.
• Promote safe, high-quality and patient-centered care.
