Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in ATLANTA, GA, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Division of Neonatology in the NICU. You will provide direct patient care for approximately 8–10 infants and collaborate with neonatology faculty for teaching opportunities and clinical decisions.

The role emphasizes ongoing education of fellows, residents, and medical students, participation in quality improvement, and maintaining licensure and certifications.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed physician with an MD or DO degree and board certification in Pediatrics.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of a pediatric residency.
  • Active Georgia state medical license and DEA registration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the NICU under the supervision of the attending neonatologist.
  • Educate and supervise fellows, residents, and medical students as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinical research activities within the Neonatology Division.
  • Maintain medical licensure, board certification, and required certifications (BLS/PALS).

Job Description

Devote 1.0 effort to clinical service within the Division of Neonatology, primarily seeing patients in the NICU at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Arthur M. Blank Hospital, Emory Midtown and Grady Memorial Hospital.

Your clinical service would consist of 168 hours per month (14 12-hr shifts or 7 24-hr shifts or some combination thereof) as a member of the advanced practice provider (APP) team in the NICU. You would be responsible for clinical management of approximately 8-10 infants and providing clinical service under the direct supervision of the attending neonatologist.

Devote appropriate effort to education of fellows, residents, and medical students by sharing in the teaching responsibilities of the Neonatology Division while working in the NICU and by teaching in other venues as opportunity arises.

When possible, attend the Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Arthur M. Blank Hospital.

Provide exemplary clinical service and assure that patients cared for by you only receive the highest quality care.

The Division of Neonatology would welcome and support your participation in ongoing quality improvement and clinical research activities of the division. Participate in fellows’ conferences and didactic lectures for nurse practitioners at Emory.

Maintain Georgia state licensure, DEA certification, and appropriate facility privileges.

Experience
  • No minimum Experience Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in respective clinical area.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post‑graduate residency program in Pediatrics.
Certification Summary
  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Pediatrics
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • BLS or PALS certification required.
  • Current DEA registration.

  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  • Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  • Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  • Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
  • Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.
