Job summary

Dream Care Rides is seeking Ambulatory NEMT Drivers based at our Olympia Fields, IL headquarters to transport patients to medical appointments, dialysis, therapy visits and other healthcare destinations in the Chicago south suburbs. You will operate a sedan or SUV delivering curb-to-curb, door-to-door or hand-to-hand service depending on each patient’s mobility.

As a 1099 independent contractor you control your schedule, picking morning runs, midday visits or afternoon trips.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois driver’s license (Class D or higher) with a clean driving record.
• Clean MVR — no DUI/DWI in the past 7 years, no reckless driving in the past 3 years.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
• Minimum age of 21 years old with at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Reliable sedan or SUV (4-door, model year 2015 or newer) or drive a company vehicle.
• Smartphone with data plan capable of running the Dream Care Rides driver app.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training available at no cost).
• Professional demeanor and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport ambulatory patients to medical appointments, hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and pharmacies throughout the south suburbs.
• Arrive on time for all scheduled pickups - punctuality is critical for patients with appointment windows.
• Assist patients entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
• Maintain a clean, smoke-free, well-maintained vehicle that meets Dream Care Rides standards.
• Complete trip documentation accurately using the Dream Care Rides driver app, including pickup/drop-off times and mileage.
• Communicate professionally with patients, caregivers, facility staff, and the dispatch team.
• Follow all traffic laws and drive defensively - patient safety is always the top priority.
• Provide door-to-door service for patients who need assistance from their front door to the facility entrance.

Ambulatory drivers operate a sedan or SUV and provide curb-to-curb, door-to-door, or hand-to-hand service depending on each patient’s mobility level. This role is ideal for compassionate, reliable drivers who want flexible scheduling and meaningful work helping people access the care they need. Olympia Fields is Dream Care Rides’ home base. Drivers based here benefit from the highest trip density in our network, serving communities including Flossmoor, Homewood, Matteson, Richton Park, Park Forest, and beyond. • Smartphone with data plan capable of running the Dream Care Rides driver app
