Job summary

Saks Global, working with Neiman Marcus in its luxury retail network, is seeking a Tailor to perform alterations and sizing across merchandise. You will assist fitters, ensure quality workmanship, and handle various alteration tasks to meet exacting standards.

Experience in tailoring or industrial sewing is preferred; strong reading skills and math are required. Benefits include medical/dental coverage and employee discounts within a dynamic luxury retail environment.

• Ability to read English and understand instructions from supervisors.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for measurements and alterations.

Responsibilities

• Alter garments to Neiman Marcus quality standards.
• Alter seams, shoulders, sleeves and collars per instruction.
• Shorten coats, re-line garments, and adjust pockets.
• Operate sewing equipment and inspect finished work quality.
• Follow directions from Supervisor/Lead and complete tasks accordingly.

You Will Be

As a Tailor, you will be conducting alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. You will assist fitters in achieving their goals with professional assistance with fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

What You Will Do

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus equal or better than original construction
• Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
• Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
• nterpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead

What You Will Bring

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
