Job summary

The Neighborhood Nurse Manager at Home of the Innocents leads daily Neighborhood nursing operations at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center in Louisville, KY. You will supervise licensed nurses, SRNAs, and RCAs, manage complex pediatric clinical care, and partner with physicians to ensure safe, compassionate, evidence-based care.

This on-site role requires a Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotations; work hours may vary to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• BSN and Kentucky RN license required.
• 5 years direct care RN experience in acute or long-term care.
• 2 years nursing management/supervisory experience.
• Availability for extended hours and on-call coverage as needed.
• CPR/BLS certification required or provided.

Job Description

Are you an experienced RN leader who thrives in a complex, mission-driven clinical environment? Home of the Innocents is seeking a Neighborhood Nurse Manager to lead daily nursing operations and provide direct oversight of an assigned Neighborhood at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center, our pediatric skilled nursing facility. In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll supervise and develop a nursing team, manage complex pediatric clinical care, and champion a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence for some of Kentucky’s most medically complex children and young adults.

A Day in the Life

The Neighborhood Nurse Manager provides leadership and daily oversight of Neighborhood nursing operations under the direction of the Director of Nursing. You’ll oversee licensed nurses, SRNAs, and Resident Care Attendants; collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team; and ensure care meets or exceeds federal, state, local, and facility standards. From clinical assessments to staff coaching to QAPI participation, no two days look exactly the same.

Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, on-site at KCC. This role includes an on-call rotation and candidates must be willing and available to work any hours necessary for the role.

How This Position Contributes to Our Mission

• Lead daily Neighborhood nursing operations, ensuring safe, evidence-based, resident-centered care aligned with physician orders and individualized care plans
• Supervise and develop Assistant Nurse Managers, licensed nurses, SRNAs, and RCAs through coaching, performance evaluation, and competency oversight
• Manage complex pediatric nursing care including airway management, ventilatory support monitoring, central and peripheral line care, wound management, ostomy care, enteral nutrition, and palliative care
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to keep resident assessments, orders, and care plans current and responsive to each child’s medical, developmental, and psychosocial needs
• Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) efforts, monitoring clinical outcomes and implementing corrective actions to reduce infections, injuries, and adverse events
• Maintain visible, accessible leadership across all shifts including on-call coverage, staffing management, and payroll and workforce compliance in collaboration with the Staffing Coordinator

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); unencumbered RN license in Kentucky
• Five (5) years of direct care RN experience in acute or long-term care
• Two (2) years of nursing management or supervisory experience in acute or long-term care
• Availability for extended hours and on-call coverage as needed
• Current CPR/BLS certification (provided if needed)

Preferred:

• Cardiopulmonary and/or ventilator/tracheostomy care experience
• Pediatric and/or long-term care nursing experience
• Experience with palliative and end-of-life care
• Experience supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles
