Job summary

City of Valdosta is seeking an Administrative/Administrative-Technical specialist to coordinate Community Development Block Grant and other programs. You will handle customer service, applications review, files, accounts, and procurement tasks.

The role involves researching titles, coordinating with legal staff, preparing notices, and meeting residents to explain programs. Proficiency in office tools and budgeting is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience with apprenticeship/internship or 1–2 years in a similar position.
  • Possession of/ability to obtain a valid GA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service; answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel; takes messages and makes appointments.
  • Reviews applications and determines eligibility for participation in grant program.
  • Maintains applicant files and financial information.
  • Maintains departmental accounts; monitors expenditures, prepares requisitions, and tracks purchase orders; maintains purchase card accounts.
  • Researches property titles.
  • Coordinates property closing with legal staff.
  • Prepares news release and public notices.
  • Meets with community members to provide information about programs and services.
  • Prepares letters, memoranda and other correspondence.
  • Oversees the City’s youth work program.
  • Completes environmental reviews for projects.
  • Prepares and files lien cancellations.
  • Prepares and submits travel requests; processes travel reimbursements.

  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
