Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Technician I - Necropsy for the 1st Shift Pathology Services Team in Mattawan, MI. The role involves learning onboarding skills, procedures, and collaborating in a team to conduct studies and collect data under supervision.

Pay is $20/hr with a Mon-Fri 8:00am–4:30pm schedule plus weekend/holiday rotation and overtime as needed. High school diploma required; no prior experience necessary; must be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS in biological science preferred.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
• Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office), ability to learn validated systems.
• Ability to maintain a safe working environment per safety procedures and PPE.
• Ability to ensure GLP/SOP/BOP and IACUC compliance for studies.
• Ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Performs euthanasia and post-mortem examination of animals and prepares organs for microscopic evaluation.
• Ensure humane care and welfare of animals; human-animal interactions.
• Train in onboarding skills such as handling, sedation, dissection, sample collection and lab prep.
• Collect, document, review, and verify data in forms or electronic systems.
• Review documentation for quality control; maintain instruments and equipment.
• Learn anatomical terminology and handle samples as required.
• Receive, track, and prepare samples for the department; perform related duties.
