Qualifications

JOB TITLE: NDT Ultrasonic Inspector, Level II

REPORTS TO: NDT Examiner, LIII

PAY RANGE: $35.00 - $45.00/Hourly DOE

Summary of position: The NDT Level II inspector performs VT, UT, MT, and PT inspections on surface ship and submarine structures, along with miscellaneous tasks assigned by their supervisor.

Required Education: High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities
  • Perform physical inspections of welds and materials on ships and submarines
  • Follow approved inspection procedures
  • Assist with reviewing and writing procedures/standards for VT, MT, PT, and UT processes
  • Provide on-the-job training for trainees and lower-level inspectors
  • Administer examinations to NDT personnel as designated
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are met
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and care for equipment
  • Adhere to company rules and policies
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Work safely and efficiently with team members
  • Report unsafe conditions
  • Support other inspection and quality assurance duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Qualified Level II inspector for VT and UT per NAVSEA requirements or equivalent experience
  • Experience with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding preferred
  • Knowledge of welding joint design and fit-up requirements
  • Ability to follow instructions and interpret technical documents
  • Willingness to learn and dependable work ethic
  • Familiarity with the metric system
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work 40+ hours/week
  • Pass substance abuse testing
  • Physical ability to perform inspection tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in confined spaces
