Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in Red Lion, PA, is seeking an NDT Technician Level I to join our QA team. The role involves assisting with equipment setups, accepting or rejecting parts, and documenting results using ultrasound or radiography techniques.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an NDT Level I certification, may have related technical training, and are willing to work in a climate-controlled environment with safety-focused procedures.

Qualifications

  • No prior experience required; relevant education or training accepted.
  • Pursuing NDT Level 1 certification is encouraged.
  • Willingness to work varying shifts and learn testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound, radiography or related nondestructive evaluation methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up and standardizing equipment and documenting results.
  • Support development of calibrations and tests for acceptance criteria.
  • Record results in accordance with specifications and identify deviations.
  • Identify errors or defects in equipment during testing.
  • Utilize ultrasound, radiography or similar techniques as part of testing.
  • Contribute to system performance checks per process standards.
  • Maintain procedures, policies, and training records.
  • Document training and experience hours for compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with setting up and standardizing equipment, processing parts, interpreting and evaluating for acceptance or rejection, and documenting results.
  • Supports the development of specific calibrations and tests.
  • Documents results in accordance with the specification.
  • Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
  • Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
  • Assists with conducting system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
  • Maintains procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
  • Maintains documentation for training and experience hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Attending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience or Skillset; No prior experience needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience
  • Additional certifications: Working to achieve NDT Level 1 certification or higher. Working to achieve certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 1 requirements. Working to achieve ultrasonic, MPI and/or liquid penetrant certification.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Manual dexterity.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Travel Requirements:
