Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking an experienced NDT professional to design, implement, and supervise nondestructive testing programs ensuring material conformance without damage. You will document results and develop testing plans per regulations.

The role requires NAS 410 Level 2 certification and extensive hands-on radiography and ultrasound experience, with flexibility for shift changes and outdoor work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree with 5–7 years experience or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must hold NAS 410 Certification Level 2 or be able to achieve Level I/II per NAS 410 standards

Responsibilities

  • Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results
  • Develop specific calibrations and tests
  • Document results in accordance with the specification
  • Identify errors and defects in equipment
  • Use ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process
  • Conduct system performance checks per applicable process standard
  • Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary
  • Train subordinate personnel in various NDT disciplines and techniques
  • Maintain documentation for training and experience hours

Job Summary

Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.

  • Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
Essential Functions

Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Other: NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Technical school or an applicable skilled trade program
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Manual dexterity.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
