Job Description Summary

A NDT Technician- FPI is responsible for conducting inspections and assessments of RPCA parts without causing damage to the tested items. NDT Technician-FPI will perform non-destructive tests, in particular florescent penetrant inspection, according to established RPCA procedures, standards, and guidelines. NDT Technician-FPI will ensure the accuracy and reliability of testing procedures by adhering to quality assurance and quality control standards.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Perform non-destructive testing (including Florescent Penetrant Inspection - FPI) of RPCA materials
  • Interpret results of FPI in accordance with quality procedures, process planning, and special process instructions.
  • Determine part acceptability relative to quality requirements and prepare reports/ documentation as necessary
  • Set-up, calibrate, and maintain non-destructive equipment as necessary
  • Must complete all required compliance training
  • Must complete all EHS training and participate in safety and quality audits
  • Must be an active contributing member of a high-performance self-directed work team
  • Participation in Tier Meetings/Shift Startups & handoffs
  • Embrace continuous improvement and assist with Lean initiatives in your area
  • Demonstrate teaming culture and positive culture of GE Aerospace Asheville
  • Ability and willingness to cross train in other manufacturing or inspection areas of the RPCA plant to meet business needs
  • Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, shop floor applications, etc.)
  • Strong documentation skills to record operations and data
  • Maintain Inspection qualification (Visual, NDT, CMM)
  • Ability to work overtime (OT) and flex schedule as needed to meet business needs.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to complete required training curriculum to achieve L1 & L2 NDE status
  • Ability to pass eyesight acuity requirements and color vision perception test
  • Minimum 1 year of Quality Inspection or machinist experience or equivalent certification
  • Follow all safety and EHS policies and procedures
  • Follow all GE and regulatory requirements
