Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. seeks a skilled NDT Source Inspector for on-site work in Euclid, Ohio. You will provide technical oversight of supplier NDT personnel, procedures, and inspection results to ensure compliance with NAVSEA and MIL-STD requirements.

Candidates must have NAVSEA 250-1500-1 qualification for welds, MIL-STD-2132, and NSTR-99 credentials, plus 4 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in GD&T and CAD tools, strong communication, and a track record in NDT are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must be capable of qualifying as an NDT Examiner for Navy specifications NAVSEA 250-1500-1 for welds, MIL-STD-2132 for base materials, and NSTR-99 personnel qualification
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalence is required. CWI, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience/certifications in VT, PT, MT, UT and RT preferred.
  • Proficient with computer software to create, modify, and analyze complex 2D or 3D technical drawings and models
  • Understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) preferred.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT), including gaging and other inspection methods is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of supplier NDT personnel, processes, and programs.
  • Review and approve Supplier NDT procedures, reports, and technical requirements.
  • Review and approve NDE portions of data history books.
  • Create and maintain databases to monitor vendor performance.
  • Obtain and maintain examiner qualifications in three or more of the following methods: VT, PT, MT, UT, RT.
  • Reviewing, writing and qualifying NDT procedures as required per NAVSEA 250-1500-1 & MIL-STD-2132
  • Taking an active role in resolving major NDT problems, internally and supplier.
  • Reviewing and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
  • Reviewing manufacturing process routers and sketches, ensuring processes are in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure material traceability is maintained throughout processing, from raw material to delivery of product.
  • Troubleshoot welding, manufacturing, inspection, and test processes as issues arise.
  • Participate in projects such as lean/six sigma teams or process improvement initiatives.

Position Overview

The NDT Source Inspector provides technical oversight of supplier NDT personnel, procedures, processes, and inspection results to ensure compliance with customer specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standards. The role also supports NDT procedure qualification, resolves inspection and manufacturing issues, evaluates supplier performance, and requires strong NDT expertise with qualification in multiple inspection methods.

Your Day To Day As a NDT Source Inspector
  • Provide oversite of Supplier NDT personnel, processes, and programs.

Pay: $79,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
