Job summary

SPG Consulting in Orange, MA is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure all products and processes meet company standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have a CWI credential preferred and strong NDT experience, including VT, MT, PT, and UT methods.

You will work directly with the QA Manager and Production Manager to uphold quality and compliance through detailed inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, UT) and inspection techniques.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing inspection/quality assurance.
• Proficiency reading engineering blueprints, welding symbols, and GD&T.
• Experience with inspection tools.
• Familiarity with industry standards (AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to work independently.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• NDT certifications (Level I or II in PT, MT, UT, RT) are a plus.
• Strong manufacturing experience and a desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement quality inspection processes with QA/Production managers.
• Perform detailed inspections of components, welds, and assemblies to ensure spec compliance.
• Use NDT techniques (VT, MT, PT, UT) to evaluate material integrity.
• Conduct dimensional inspections with calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Interpret and apply welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, ISO) to manufacturing.
• Document inspection findings and generate NCRs and reports.
• Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Participate in audits and customer inspections.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes.
• Train and mentor team members on inspection best practices.
