Job Description

Purpose:

This role involves performing fluorescent penetrant inspections of castings using established methods to ensure they meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret processed castings and certify conformance to customer requirements.
• Inspect castings visually under white light and certify when required.
• Prepare technique cards and assist in setup for lower-level inspectors.
• Conduct calibration and system checks regularly.
• Handle castings during inspection, including moving them as needed.
• Complete paperwork and maintain records and logs.
• Assist in training lower-level personnel and monitor their work quality.
• Report discrepancies and complete evaluation reports.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
• Attend training sessions as required.

Skills & Requirements:

• Complete specialized training in penetrant and magnetic particle inspection equipment.
• Pass a visual acuity test.
• Understand basic magnetic particle inspection theory.
• Use gauging equipment and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Document completion of departmental qualification requirements.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Finishing Lead Person and Supervisor.

Experience & Education:

• Minimum 4 months of experience as a Penetrant Inspector C or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent with ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
