Job Description

Purpose:

This role involves performing fluorescent penetrant inspections of castings to ensure they meet customer requirements, following established inspection methods under general supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Interpret castings processed through penetrant inspection and certify conformance to customer requirements.
  • Inspect castings visually under white light for compliance and certify when required.
  • Prepare technique cards and assist in setting up work for lower-level personnel.
  • Conduct calibration and system checks regularly.
  • Handle castings during inspection processes.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and maintain records.
  • Maintain logs and test records, including time cards.
  • Assist in training lower-level personnel and monitor their work quality.
  • Report discrepancies to Inspection Supervisor and complete PCAR evaluations.
  • Adhere to housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned or of similar skill level.
  • Attend training sessions as required.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

  • Complete specialized training on penetrant and magnetic particle equipment.
  • Pass visual acuity tests.
  • Understand basic magnetic particle inspection theory.
  • Use simple gauging equipment and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Document completion of current departmental qualification requirements.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Finishing Lead Person and Supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 months experience as a Penetrant Inspector C or equivalent.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with the ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
