Location: 955 North Haverhill Rd, El Dorado, Kansas 67042-4806

Shift: 2nd Shift (4:00 pm – 2:30 am; Monday – Thursday)

Starting Wage: $27.93 /hr + $1.50 /hr shift differential

Job Summary

The NDT Inspector – Associate reports to the Quality Supervisor and is responsible for evaluating fabricated materials through dimensional checks, visual inspection of welds, and nondestructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant). The role supports production goals, completes daily paperwork, and maintains NDT reports and records.

Essential Functions
  • Test and evaluate products to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications.
  • Make decisions regarding codes (including AWS D1.1) and specifications under guidance of a Level II NDT Inspector.
  • Interpret NDT reports and evaluate quality acceptance under guidance of a fully certified Level II NDT Inspector.
  • Authorize rejection of material or stop work to minimize financial loss and customer dissatisfaction.
  • Work under production conditions, completing tasks within set time limits.
  • Maintain essential tools and equipment, including their upkeep.
  • Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.
  • Maintain timely and consistent attendance.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma and 5+ years of work/educational experience, or Associate’s Degree with 2+ years’ experience, or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a fabricated steel environment.
  • Basic math calculations, including conversion of fractions to decimals.
  • Use of measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, weld gauges, levels).
  • Level I NDT certification or ability to obtain Level I certification within 90 days.
  • Operate NDT testing equipment.
  • Effective communication with plant employees, supervisors, management, and customers.
  • Prioritize work to meet deadlines and resolve problems with minimal assistance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess
  • 4+ years’ experience in a fabricated steel environment.
  • Associate’s Degree in NDT from an accredited school.
  • SNT‑TC‑1A Level I certification in UT and magnetic particle.
  • Competence in basic quality assurance disciplines (dimensional inspection and gauging equipment).
  • Experience in non‑destructive testing.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts

Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment, involving moving through office, shipping area, and production lines. Exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, and noise above 80 dB is common. Tasks are physical, requiring lifting up to 50 lbs (frequently 20 lbs), reaching, standing, walking, and using hands. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
