Sletten Construction’s SCC Inspection division seeks an Inspection Assistant I to support field inspections around the Minot, ND area. The role involves assisting with PAUT inspections and, occasionally, MT and PT testing of welds, while observing piping and structural components. Emphasis on safety and accurate reporting.

Candidate will learn and perform daily field observations and reports, coordinate with inspectors and clients, and adapt to varying site conditions and schedules.

• Background in oil & gas industry, construction, or inspection is a plus.

Inspection Assistant I

SCC Inspection is a growing inspection group on the cutting edge of technology. As a division of Sletten Construction, SCC offers benefits unmatched in the industry. We are recruiting for an Inspection Assistant I for projects in and around the Minot, ND area.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist as the PAUT Technician performs routine to difficult field inspections.

Also occasionally assist in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Dye Penetrant (PT) testing of welded connections, perform visual observations of piping, structural steel, vessels, tanks, and other materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must possess the traits to promote good working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and clients. Must be able to communicate with inspectors, contractor, or client personnel and have the ability to operate calmly under pressure. Interact with client's field representatives to report results and conclusions.

Assist a field inspector as required by applicable codes. Makes field inspections of sites and takes photographs of field operations as required.

Learn to prepare written daily field observation reports and summary reports.

Perform other duties as requested.

Learn/Possess understanding and practical experience with refinery safety, equipment, and other assets.

Must have ability to learn and adapt as necessary. Must be alert to new procedures and methods.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Background in oil & gas industry, construction, or inspection a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequent driving.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent exposure to weather including hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather. Working conditions could be a combination based on season.

Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss.

Exposure to a shaking object or surface. Exposure to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation, which affect the respiratory system, eyes or, the skin.
