Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Savannah is seeking an NDT Engineer to lead advanced nondestructive testing initiatives on Gulfstream products. You will write, review, and maintain NDT procedures, and support audits and training for Level I/II technicians in collaboration with the quality team.

The role requires extensive engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree, with travel up to 25%. This on-site position participates in design reviews and engineering program success amid a high-performance,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field required.
  • 10+ years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years across multiple disciplines with a Bachelor's.
  • Position guides major engineering programs and supports Gulfstream products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Is consulted extensively by associates as a recognized authority in the field.
  • Anticipates and resolves complex issues, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Balances technical product, cost and schedule in problem solving.
  • Works with minimal direction; long-range reviews used for results.
  • Exercises latitude in determining objectives and makes authoritative recommendations.
  • Maintains knowledge of developments to suggest innovations for quality improvements.

Job description

NDT Engineer - TS IIin GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
  • Familiar with writing, reviewing, and maintaining NDT inspection procedures and techniques in accordance with industry standards such as NAS 410.
  • Knowledge of NDT Systems, Equipment, and Technology
  • Assist Operations and Supplier Quality with conducting internal and supplier audits, respectively. (Tier 1 Suppliers).
  • Work closely with the Quality organization to supplement training of Level I and II technicians, providing technical guidance on difficult-to-interpret results.
  • Support Design reviews for reference standards.
  • Define NDT requirements during the engineering design phase to ensure product supportability and affordability.
  • Assist the Composite Fabrication Shop with the development of strategic business plans supporting Production efficiency.
  • Support M&P MRB team with discrepancies.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for material or mechanical failures identified through testing.
Soft Skills
  • Attention to Detail:Ability to detect subtle defects that could compromise safety.
  • Communication:Clearly explain technical findings to cross-functional teams, including production, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Peer Engineering Groups.
  • Problem-Solving:A methodical approach to troubleshooting equipment malfunctions or ambiguous data.
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 10 yrs in specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job. Position Purpose:Guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services

  6. Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative .

Additional Functions:

  1. Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product .

Other Requirements:

  1. Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred.
  2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
