Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Kansas is recruiting for a senior NDT professional specializing in Eddy Current and other NDT methods. The role requires leading NDI activities, developing procedures, and ensuring compliance with Nadcap and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Eddy Current NDI Level III experience.
  • 10+ years in an NDI Level II role.
  • NAS 410 formal classroom training hours in each certified method.
  • Valid NAS 410 NDI Level II or III certification.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work any shift as required for retesting and recertification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Eddy Current and other NDT techniques to meet customer standards.
  • Set up, calibrate, operate, inspect, interpret results and document findings.
  • Develop and approve procedures for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct system performance checks and support QA and accreditation efforts.
  • Provide guidance and training to trainees and NDI personnel.
  • Interpret codes and standards governing NDT for compliance.

Job description

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Eddy Current (high frequency crack detection) and other nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques including Magnetic Particle (multi mag bench and yoke), Penetrant (Type 1, method A and C), Ultrasonic(conventional and phased array), and Radiography (Film and digital) for compliance to customer requirements and applicable standards
  • Preferred multi-method experience; focus primarily on Eddy Current
  • Have the experience to set-up, calibrate, operate, process, inspect, interpret results, and document findings in all methods responsible for
  • Develop, review, and approve procedures and work instructions for technical accuracy and compliance
  • Conduct system performance checks aligned with process standards and specifications
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and training to trainees and NDI Level II personnel: support certification and examinations
  • Perform audit surveillance, document non-conformances, and support continuos process improvement
  • Interpret codes, standards, and contractual documents governing NDT to ensure compliance and technical integrity
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility, equipment, staff, and accreditation standards such as Nadcap
  • Support quality assurance and accreditation efforts, maintaining documentation and ensuring operational readiness through equipment maintenance and calibration
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in an Eddy Current NDI Level III role
  • 10+ years of experience in an NDI level II role
  • NAS 410 required formal classroom training hours in each method certified in (proof required)
  • Valid NAS 410 NDI Level II or Level III certification (proof required)
  • Proficiency with MS office Suite
  • Ability to work any shift, including alternate work weeks as business needs dictate to the retesting and recertification process

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Associate’s degree in NDT/NDI
  • Directly related experience to the work performed
  • Previous experience writing/performing in-service inspections
  • Familiarity with Nadcap accreditation standards
  • Familiarity with audit prep (AS9100, FAA, Customer)
  • Experience with Ultrasonic methods, Magnetic Particle, Penetrant methods, and Radiography

Summary Pay Range: $87,200 - $133,700
