Job summary

Accelera in North Carolina seeks an experienced NDI Ultrasonic Testing professional to supervise Level II/III operations and ensure compliance with NAS 410. The role requires hands-on UT methods including pulse-echo, phased array, through transmission and shear wave, with mentorship of junior staff.

Responsibilities include configuring equipment, interpreting results, developing procedures, and leading audits to maintain strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a relevant field with at least 3 years of experience.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level 1 Certification with 40 hours of formal training.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level 2 Certification with 40 hours of formal training.
• Documented 800+ hours of On-the-Job training in Ultrasonic Testing.
• Current NAS 410 certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-destructive evaluations to assess material and system integrity using multiple inspection methods (radiography, ultrasonic, eddy current, shearography, thermography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant).
• Configure and calibrate NDI instrumentation; interpret findings against acceptance criteria; develop inspection techniques per procedures.
• Conduct system performance verifications and audits; mentor junior staff; report non-conformances to uphold compliance.

Educational and Certification Prerequisites:

• Associate degree in a relevant field paired with a minimum of three years of professional experience.
• Possession of Ultrasonic Testing Level 1 Certification, supported by 40 hours of formal training.
• Possession of Ultrasonic Testing Level 2 Certification, supported by 40 hours of formal training.
• Documented evidence of at least 800 hours of On-the-Job training in Ultrasonic Testing.
• Current NAS 410 certification.

Core Responsibilities:

You will perform non-destructive evaluations to assess material and system integrity without compromising the components. By applying various inspection methods—including radiography, ultrasonic, eddy current, shearography, thermography, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant-you will ensure all parts meet rigorous engineering standards.

Level II (Job Level 3 or below):

• Configure and calibrate NDI instrumentation to ensure precise measurements.
• Process components and interpret findings to determine if they meet acceptance criteria.
• Develop inspection techniques based on established procedures to help maintain high quality standards.
• Perform system performance verifications to ensure all equipment operates within required process standards.
• Offer mentorship and oversight to junior staff members to support team development.
• Monitor inspection processes through audits and report any non-conformances to help uphold strict compliance.

Level III (Job Level 4):

• Analyze and interpret complex codes and contractual requirements governing NDT operations.
• Take full technical ownership of the NDT facility, including equipment oversight and staff management.
• Draft, review, and validate technical procedures and work instructions to ensure operational adequacy.
• Facilitate the training, testing, and formal certification of personnel to improve overall team capability.
• Conduct thorough surveillance audits of inspection workflows and document any deviations to ensure process integrity.
