Job summary

Wichita State University NIAR Composites & Structures lab is seeking a Non Destructive Inspection Student Assistant to support lab operations and data handling. The role is on-site, part-time, and requires enrollment in the university's engineering program.

Responsibilities include assisting with NDI testing, preparing specimens, maintaining equipment, inventory management, and ensuring lab safety. Must have a high school diploma and GPA above 3.0; aerospace/mechanical preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in Wichita State University Engineering Program.
• Major in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Must be an undergraduate student with GPA above 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) laboratory operations.
• Prepare, organize, and label test specimens and equipment.
• Support ultrasonic and other NDI testing activities under supervision.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
• Clean and maintain the ultrasonic water tank and surrounding work area.
• Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and routine maintenance.
• Enter and organize test data, files, and documentation.
• Help manage inventory, tools, and laboratory supplies.
• Follow all laboratory safety procedures and standard operating instructions.
• Perform other laboratory-related tasks as assigned.

Education

GPA above 3.0
