Position Overview

The NDE Operations organization at SpaceX is an inclusive, interdisciplinary team committed to providing high-quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. As an NDE Level II Inspector, you will work across various programs including Falcon, Dragon, Starship, and Raptor, contributing to continuous improvement and the mission to make humanity interplanetary.

Responsibilities
  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections using advanced radiographic techniques: traditional analogue, computed, and direct digital.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and report findings to production and engineering teams.
  • Review engineering drawings as required.
  • Optimize digital images for clarity and accuracy.
  • Support development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members.
  • Participate in research and development for system qualification and certification of critical processes.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • NDE Level II certification in radiography (RT) per ASNT TC-1A, NAS-410, or DOD guidance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Additional nondestructive evaluation Level II certifications (e.g., eddy current, dye penetrant, visual inspection, phased array, ultrasonic, magnetic particle).
  • Operational experience with NDE methods, especially for weld inspections.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Level II NDE inspector.
  • Experience in aerospace industry inspections.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from AWS is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience inspecting high-strength alloys, superalloys, and advanced materials.
  • Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards, AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM standards.
  • Problem-solving skills using tools like PPS and 8D.
  • Understanding of Lean principles such as 5S and Kaizen.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Shift options include first, second, and weekend shifts with specified hours.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 lbs, stand, climb stairs, and perform other physical tasks.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay ranges vary by grade, from $23.00 to $51.50/hour, with actual salary determined based on experience and skills. Benefits include stock options, bonuses, comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage, 401(k), paid leave, and more.

Applicants must meet U.S. export control regulations, including citizenship or legal residency status.
