Position

Summary of Primary Functions: Our Certified Rigger is responsible for preparing, securing, and moving heavy loads using rigging equipment such as cables, pulleys, and winches. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and success of lifting operations on-site.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products. Duties and responsibilities for our Certified Rigger includes, but is not limited to:

  • Rigging and Lifting Operations.
  • Inspect rigging equipment and hardware to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Select, set up, and secure rigging equipment according to load requirements and specifications.
  • Safely attach and detach loads to lifting devices such as cranes, hoists, and forklifts.
  • Conduct pre-lift and post-lift inspections to identify and address any safety hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and crane operators to establish safe lifting plans.
  • Load Calculations and Setup.
  • Calculate weight, size, and center of gravity of loads to determine appropriate rigging methods.
  • Plan and execute safe load movements, considering environmental factors and load constraints.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on rigging tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections and certifications.
  • Work closely with crane operators, site supervisors, and other team members to coordinate lifting activities.
  • Provide clear hand signals and/or radio communication during lifting operations.

Requirements

Job Specifications or Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma preferred but not required.

Certifications: 10-hour Construction OSHA Required. Must hold a valid National rigging certification from a recognized authority (e.g., NCCCO, NCCER, OSHA-compliant certification).

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a rigger in a construction and/or industrial settings.

Key Competencies

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of rigging techniques, load calculations, and safety standards.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and endure prolonged periods of physical activity.
  • Proficiency in using rigging tools and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with heavy equipment operations or crane signaling.
  • Familiarity with specialized rigging software or tools.
  • Additional certifications in crane operations or safety management.
