Primary Function
Operates a variety of mobile hydraulic boom cranes with lifting capacities over 50 tons at locations where maneuverability is restricted, and accuracy is critical.
Typical Duties
- Makes precise load placements where exact movements are necessary, to position the load accurately and safely.
- Supports the Company’s safety commitments and adheres to its “Core Values.”
- Represents the Company with high moral standards, following the “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
- Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies, especially where obstructions exist.
- Precisely positions equipment, heavy machinery, components, beams, and lumber.
- Cross-trains in other positions and performs related duties as assigned.
- Operates crane controls using pilot operated joystick controls, pedals, levers, and buttons to lift, move, and position loads with hoisting attachments.
- Inspects loads and hoisting mechanisms for safety and reports on crane operation.
- Communicates effectively with team members verbally and through signals, following directions closely.
- Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions to minimize risks.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervision.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical, industrial, or refinery maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Ability to pass equipment tests and visual inspections.
- Completion of Matrix Service Safety training and site-specific training.
- Active status in an appropriate drug testing program.
- Must possess and maintain an NCCCO card and current DOT Card.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk into and out of the project site via turnstile access.
- Extensive walking around construction sites.
- Work at heights, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, and working on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Use of PPE such as fall protection harnesses and hard hats.
- Fit testing for and use of respirators.
- Work in hot and cold temperatures.
