Job summary

Saratech is seeking an experienced NC Programmer with Siemens NX CAM expertise to develop and optimize CNC programs for a range of components in a fully remote role. This position supports engineering, manufacturing, and shop teams to deliver production-ready NC programs.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of CNC programming in a manufacturing environment, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to read complex drawings and specifications. A Journeyman or equivalent training is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience with Siemens NX CAM.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing or machine shop setting.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining.
• Develop machining strategies for prototype and production components.
• Generate and validate toolpaths for 3-, 4-, 5-axis milling and turning; perform simulations.
• Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and strategies to maximize productivity and quality.
• Create setup sheets, tooling lists, and manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and project managers to improve processes.
• Troubleshoot issues remotely and implement corrective actions.

Job Title: NC Programmer (Siemens NX CAM)

Location: Remote

Project Duration: 12months

Compensation: $70/hr

About the Opportunity:

Saratech is seeking an experienced NC Programmer with strong expertise in Siemens NX CAM to develop, optimize, and support CNC machining programs for a wide variety of precision components produced from both soft metals (aluminum, brass, copper, plastics) and hard metals (steel, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other high-performance alloys).

The ideal candidate has a strong background working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment and understands real-world machining practices, tooling selection, fixture design, cutter paths, cycle time reduction, and part quality requirements. This is a fully remote position working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and shop personnel to create efficient, production-ready NC programs.

A Journeyman Machinist Card or equivalent apprenticeship training is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations.
• Develop machining strategies for prototype and production components across a variety of materials and complexity levels.
• Generate and validate toolpaths for:
  • 3-axis milling
  • 4-axis milling
  • 5-axis milling
  • CNC turning
  • Mill-turn applications
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to maximize productivity and part quality.
• Perform simulation and verification of NC programs to identify and eliminate collisions, gouges, and machining inefficiencies.
• Create setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with machinists, manufacturing engineers, quality personnel, and project managers to improve machining processes.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions remotely with shop personnel.
• Recommend process improvements that reduce setup time, machining cycle time, scrap, and tooling costs.
• Maintain programming standards, post processors, and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience using Siemens NX CAM.
• 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and GD&T.
• Experience programming parts made from:
  • Aluminum
  • Stainless steel
  • Tool steels
  • Titanium
  • High-temperature alloys
  • Copper alloys
• Experience with CNC milling and turning operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
• Proficiency creating manufacturing documentation and setup instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Journeyman Machinist Card or completion of a formal machining apprenticeship program.
• 10+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, industrial, or high-precision manufacturing industries.
• Knowledge of cutting tool technologies, workholding, and fixture design.
• Experience with post-processor development and optimization.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing workflows.
• Hands-on setup and operation experience with CNC machine tools.
