Job Details
- Title: NC Machine Operator B - 1st shift
- Location: Evansville, WI
- Type: Full-time
- Department: CNC
- Compensation: $21.00-$24.00/hour
- Hours: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm-1:30am; Overtime may be required based on staffing needs.
Summary
Sets up and operates numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to work schedules.
- Review setup sheets and specifications for proper setup and machining sequence.
- Attach fixtures and secure workpieces according to instructions.
- Assemble and position cutting tools; insert into machine as specified.
- Enter commands to retrieve machine instructions from database.
- Operate controls to start and index the machine.
- Monitor machine operation for malfunctions or worn tools.
- Change tools and reposition workpieces as needed.
- Measure workpieces to ensure they meet specifications.
- Report discrepancies to supervisor.
- Keep accurate records of production and attendance.
- Practice safety and wear protective equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or 6 months to 1 year related experience.
- Proficient with hand tools and mechanical tasks.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Solid math skills for measurements.
- Experience with CNC operations and reading blueprints.
- Ability to translate instructions into CNC commands.
- Problem-solving skills for production issues.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents.
- Mathematical skills for measurements and conversions.
- Reasoning skills to follow instructions and solve problems.
- Possess or be able to acquire a valid forklift license.
- Physical ability to stand, lift, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment includes exposure to moving parts, fumes, and noise.
