Job summary

Butterball, LLC is seeking a Feed Mill Receiver to load and unload feed trucks and to test samples of all incoming ingredients at our facility in North Carolina. The role includes documenting data, unpacking ingredients, and ensuring packing lists are accurate while performing daily housekeeping and basic maintenance in a high‑volume mill environment.

The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, withstand outdoor conditions, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a light to medium industrial setting preferred, with preference given to individuals who have previously worked in a feed mill.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload feed trucks.
• Accurately document loading and unloading data on receiving and shipping logs and tickets.
• Unpack all ingredients and verify packing lists.
• Sample and test ingredients prior to unloading trucks.
• Daily basic housekeeping (sweeping, trash, cleaning) and maintenance.

The Feed Mill Receiver loads and unloads feed trucks at the feed mill and tests samples of all incoming ingredients.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload feed trucks
• Accurately document loading and unloading data on receiving and shipping logs and tickets

• Sample and test ingredients prior to unloading trucks
• Daily basic housekeeping (sweeping, trash, cleaning) and maintenance

Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in a light to medium industrial setting preferred, with preference given to individuals who have previously worked in a feed mill

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Forklift Certification or ability to obtain certification
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights (10+ feet), including on catwalks
• Ability to work in seasonal, outdoor conditions (hot, cold, or wet conditions)
• Walk, stand, climb for extended periods of time
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Basic reading and writing skills
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers)
• Basic mechanical ability to do repairs
• Ability to read and understand written instructions
• Basic Mathematical Skills
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for prolonged period of time
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

• Work is performed in a feed mill setting with a high noise level, high catwalks, and large amounts of traffic.
• Must be physically capable of working extended hours if needed and in a wet environment, standing for long periods of time, and operating processing equipment.
• This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
• The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
