Job summary

Butterball, LLC's Mount Olive Plant is seeking a Distribution/Raw Receiving Team Lead to support the supervisor with direction, training, and hands-on assistance across daily operations, ensuring efficient product flow and safe, quality-focused work.

You will organize materials, coordinate tasks, onboard new team members, mentor staff, and help plan daily workflows while maintaining safety standards and compliance with HACCP, FDA and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical required.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve product from storage areas based on orders using a scanner and guide team members to meet goals.
• Organize, stage, and maintain materials, supplies, and inventory in Raw Receiving and Distribution.
• Provide hands-on support in any area of Raw Receiving or Distribution as needed.
• Train, mentor, and onboard new team members with emphasis on safety and quality.

The Distribution/Raw Receiving Team Lead supports the supervisor in achieving departmental and organizational goals by providing direction, training, and hands-on assistance across daily operations. This role helps maintain efficient product flow by organizing materials, coordinating tasks, and working in any necessary area. The lead also supports onboarding new team members, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and carrying out additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Retrieve product from storage areas based on customer/production orders using a scanner and assist the supervisor in guiding and directing team members to meet departmental and company goals
• Organize, stage, and maintain materials, supplies, and inventory in Raw Receiving and Distribution areas
• Provide hands-on support in any area of Raw Receiving or Distribution as needed to ensure smooth operations
• Train, mentor, and onboard new team members, ensuring understanding of safety, quality, and productivity standards
• Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and escalated issues to the supervisor or manager as necessary
• Support the supervisor with planning daily workflows, assigning tasks, and ensuring efficient use of resources
• Enforce and promote compliance with safety, food safety, and company policies and procedures
• Assist with problem-solving and troubleshooting operational issues as they arise
• Perform additional duties or special projects as delegated by the supervisor or manager

Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)

• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
• Standing (8 hours a day or more)
• Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more)

• Gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

• Work is performed in a food processing plant with a high noise level, storage coolers/facilities
• Position includes working in areas with temperatures below freezing as well as working at heights
• Position requires working around processing plant equipment
• Must be physically capable of working extended hours if needed and in a wet environment, standing for long periods of time, and operating processing equipment
• This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment
• The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection
• This position does not require travel
