Nucor Building Systems Indiana (NBSIN) is seeking an Estimator to support sales and profit by delivering safe, accurate, and cost-effective quotes for low-rise steel building projects in the Waterloo, IN area. You will work with all departments, plants, and outside sales as a key team member.

Responsibilities include creating competitive estimates, qualifying proposals, and assisting with value-engineering during customer meetings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, building specifications, and site plans.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Basic Job Functions

Nucor Buildings Systems – Indiana (NBSIN) is seeking a talented individual that can assist the company in sales and profit by developing safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building system quotes. Nucor Buildings Systems is seeking someone that is able to work with all departments, plant, and outside sales as an integral part of the NBSIN team.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for performing all quote functions required for estimating and creation of proposals for low-rise steel building projects. This will include:

• Creating competitive, accurate and thorough estimates for metal building systems in accordance with company processes, procedures, and practices.
• Qualifying the proposal with all assumed and supplementary provided information about the project.
• Assisting the sales efforts by recognizing and implementing economical solutions and alternatives to provide the least-cost proposal while meeting known project conditions.
• Assisting in customer meetings, primarily at the proposal or closing stage of a project, to offer value-engineering suggestions.
• Utilizing computer tools, pricing tables, and an overall knowledge of the products and their applications in order to address all relevant costs associated with a given project.
• Maintaining sensitivity to material costs, erection concerns, and fabrication procedures, relating to the in-place cost of the total structure.
• Following strict schedules as defined by the Estimating Supervisor, the sales team, and our builders.
• Assisting, proactively and as assigned, in the development of additional tools, standards, etc., which will help to increase individual and overall department productivity and accuracy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and interpret: Architectural drawings, structural drawings, building specifications, site plans
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc..)
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future. Nucor will not offer sponsorship for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of structural or metal building detailing, estimating or sales experience.
• Working knowledge of metal building construction practices
• Accredited training, certification, or experience operating Architectural CAD Software.
