Salary:? $60,000

POSITION SUMMARY: The Paralegal or Legal Assistant provides administrative and paralegal support for the South Bend Common Council, its individual members, and the Common Council Attorney while exercising a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

? Provides support for South Bend Common Council and the South Bend Common Council Attorney.

? Performs legal research primarily regarding recently passed or proposed state legislation.

? Prepares draft Special Resolutions and Special Proclamations for the Council and Council Attorney.

? Performs legal research as requested by Council members or Council Attorney regarding proposed Ordinances and Resolutions.

? Prepares drafts of legal documents.

? Coordinates or participates in special projects as assigned.

? Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

? Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor?s Degree and/or at least three (3) years of paralegal or legal administrative experience.
