Job summary

Terrestris is seeking an on-site Navy RTC ASVAB Mathematics & STEM Project Lead / Instructor at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL to manage instructors, curricula, and program quality for FSPC. You will serve as the primary contract liaison with the Navy, ensure certifications, and drive program improvement in a high-visibility military training setting.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field (master’s preferred), U.S.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a favorable background check (Tier 3/CAC).
  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Reading Education, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching or military/training environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate instructors and curriculum team to cover classrooms, tutoring, and study halls.
  • Attend weekly COR meetings and serve as primary liaison on contract matters.
  • Ensure instructors obtain and maintain required certifications and address deficient performance.
  • Prepare quarterly program success reports with baselines, progress, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with curriculum developers and LSO to keep math and reading content current.
  • Maintain secure student and program records including PII/CUI.
  • Monitor classroom equipment and facilities and report safety or supply issues.
  • Administer Quality Control Plan and advise Navy leadership on staffing or recruit issues.

So, what will the Navy RTC ASVAB Mathematics & STEM Project Lead / Instructor at Terrestris do?

As the Navy RTC ASVAB Mathematics & STEM Project Lead / Instructor you will serve as the on-site supervisor for Terrestris' team of Academic Instructors and Curriculum Developers supporting FSPC - a program that helps newly enlisted Sailors and those in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) build the math and reading skills needed to meet Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) standards for more technical Navy career fields. You will be the central point of contact between the contract team and the Navy, ensuring instruction is delivered on schedule, instructors stay certified, and the program continues to improve. This work requires professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to model the standards of dress, conduct, and character expected at a high-visibility military training command.

What does a typical day look like for a Navy RTC ASVAB Mathematics & STEM Project Lead / Instructor?
You Will
  • Schedule and coordinate the instructor and curriculum team to ensure every classroom, tutoring, and study hall session is covered, including unscheduled absences.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and serve as the primary liaison on day-to-day contract matters.
  • Confirm instructors obtain and maintain required certifications and coordinate corrective action for any performance deficiencies identified in Government evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly FSPC Program Success Reports covering student baseline scores, progress, ASVAB results, and recommendations for program improvement.
  • Collaborate with curriculum developers and the Learning Standards Officer (LSO) to keep math and reading lesson content current and effective.
  • Maintain accurate, secure student and program records, including files containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Monitor classroom equipment and facilities, and report any safety, maintenance, or supply issues.
  • Administer the team's Quality Control Plan and advise Navy leadership on staffing, administrative, or recruit-related issues.
What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 (T3) or T3R background investigation and Common Access Card (CAC).
  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Reading Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching or working in a military or similar structured training environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in adult or young-adult education, including teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra 2, or teaching reading/reading literacy.
  • Completion of a recognized instructor training program - a Military Service Instructor Training Course (ITC), academic-institution instructor training, or academic credentialing as a teacher or professor.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English, and the professionalism expected in a high-visibility military training command.
