Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking Navy SLQ-32/SEWIP Technicians with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for shipboard Systems. The work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform-specific radars and sensors and supports functions such as combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing, and participation in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleets, both current and future.

The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system-level maintenance on all SLQ-32 and SEWIP systems at the AEGIS and SSDS facilities in SCSC Wallops Island, VA.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants.
  2. Scheduling planned maintenance actions utilizing the SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system.
  3. Documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum requirements:

  • High School/GED and at least 3 years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment.
  • PQS 301 qualification is required; if not obtained by the hire date, the candidate must be willing to obtain it within 3 months.
  • Willingness and ability to work in various 40-hour work-week configurations, including multiple shifts and rotational schedules.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance; US citizenship is required.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired but not required:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • Experience with network devices and understanding of operating systems like RedHat or UNIX.
Pay and Benefits

This position is covered by the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range is determined by the Department of Labor. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); disability and life insurance; paid time off and holidays; and other perks and incentives.
