Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking experienced Navy Combat Weapons Systems Technicians with expertise in comprehensive component and system-level maintenance for shipboard Weapons Systems. Join our dynamic team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC, located on a barrier island on Virginia's Eastern Shore and a tenant of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, provides live combat systems suites with platform-specific radars and sensors. It supports functions such as combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing, and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC offers a high-fidelity representative combat system for every ship in the AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleets, both current and future.

The selected candidate will perform equipment and system-level maintenance on Navy Combat Weapons Systems including:

  • Vertical Launching System (VLS)
  • Harpoon Weapons System (HWS)
  • Tomahawk Weapons System (TTWCS)

Responsibilities include providing system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants, scheduling planned maintenance actions using the SKED program according to the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system, and documenting all maintenance activities, including repair part requisitions, with the OMNS-NG program.

This position is governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High School/GED and over three years of demonstrated experience in assessing, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems and equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required; if not qualified at hire, must obtain within 3 months. Candidates must be willing and able to work various 40-hour weekly configurations, including shifts and weekends, on a rotational basis. A Secret security clearance is required, and US citizenship is mandatory.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired but not mandatory:

  • Active DoD clearance
  • Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer
  • Experience troubleshooting serial and parallel interface cables
  • Experience with network devices and understanding of operating systems like RedHat or UNIX
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $20,800 - $416,000. Salaries are determined by various factors including skills, education, experience, market conditions, and internal equity.
