Job summary

Sealift Command seeks a Second Officer (CIVMAR) to join the Deck Department aboard Navy auxiliaries and hybrid-manned ships. You will supervise watch teams, prepare voyage plans, and coordinate cargo movements in support of global operations.

The role requires USCG Second Mate certification, STCW Officer-In-Charge, and a valid GMDSS license, with experience in navigation and mission-critical communications. Expect a demanding schedule and worldwide postings.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen 18 years or older.
• TWIC credential with minimum remaining validity.
• USCG license endorsed for deck operations including Second Mate.
• MMC endorsed as Deck Department ratings.
• STCW Certificate - Officer-In-Charge of a Navigation Watch.
• FCC GMDSS Radio Operator's License with valid endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Navigation Officer, supervising watch officers and ensuring voyage plans are executed.
• Act as Operations Officer (OPSO), scheduling tasking, harbor movements, and communications.
• Assist Master and First Officer; may assume command in their absence.
• Coordinate cargo operations with CIVMAR Supply Officer and cargo teams.
• Oversight of VERTREP operations and helicopter coordination when required.
• Maintain safety, navigation records, and fleet communications.
