Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Navigation Sensor Hardware Engineer to lead sensor development for mission-critical navigation systems across flight programs. You will spearhead HW/SW design, evaluate IMU components, and mentor a diverse team to deliver reliable, low-cost spaceflight sensors.

Ideal candidates hold a BS/MS in EE/Aerospace, 8+ years in navigation sensor design, and strong testing expertise. This role requires U.S.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years in navigation sensor/avionics assembly design.
• Understanding IMU error sources, sensitivities and mitigation techniques.
• Design for manufacturing principles.
• Experience with integration of accelerometer and gyroscope sensors into navigation-grade IMU triad.
• Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced new product development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for HW and SW in navigation sensor development.
• Evaluate accelerometer, gyroscope, and IMU products; coordinate with vendors.
• Support development of high-end accelerometer/gyroscope sensors.
• Characterize and mitigate IMU errors including tests and calibration.
• Lead cost-effective, high-yield IMU manufacturing iterations.
• Drive regulatory and certification activities and failure analysis.
• Lead qualification testing for space-worthy sensors (thermal, TVAC, vibration, EMI, radiation).
