Job summary

SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support a General Contractor on a federal construction project in Charleston, South Carolina.

The ideal candidate will have strong NAVFAC project experience, EM 385-1-1 and OSHA knowledge, and a proven ability to lead safety programs, conduct AHAs/JHAs, trainings, and incident investigations. This role begins as a W-2 consultant with potential for direct-hire.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety/EHS experience.
• NAVFAC project experience is highly desired.
• Experience with USACE/DoD/military construction projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.
• Experience developing APPs, AHAs, and project safety documentation.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.

Responsibilities

• Represent the General Contractor as EHS Manager/SSHO on the project.
• Implement and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan and safety programs.
• Ensure NAVFAC, EM 385-1-1, and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 compliance.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Review AHAs/JHAs and pre-task planning; support high-risk activities planning.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
• Coordinate corrective actions for unsafe conditions with leadership.
• Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain EHS documentation, records, and safety reports.
