Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a Welder/Fitter to support operations at the Woodlake Fabrication Shop in Chesapeake, VA. The role requires extensive welding skills, including SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes. Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and the ability to work from blueprints and technical documents. Occasional travel and physical requirements such as lifting heavy objects are also essential. U.S. citizenship is mandatory and a DoD security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• 4 years of related welding experience required.
• Ability to obtain medical clearance for respirator use.
• Experience with welding processes in all positions from 2G to 6G.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of welding symbols and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Support PM operations for fleet modernization.
• Perform various tasks related to shipboard maintenance.
• Work from blueprints and technical documents.
• Maintain effective communication and relations within the team.
• Travel up to 25% for work assignments.
