Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA is seeking a skilled Trades Planner for the Sheet Metal Shop. The role centers on developing, issuing, and distributing planning documents and work items in accordance with applicable instructions and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have naval shipyard experience, be able to read drawings, and be proficient in Word/Excel with knowledge of NMD Planning and Execution Modules. Access to DBIDS/NAVSEA badges and onsite work are required.

Qualifications

BA/BS in a related field or AA/AS with 2 years related experience.
Naval shipyard environment experience preferred and ability to work aboard vessels.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Familiar with NMD Planning and Execution Modules.

Responsibilities

Conduct ship-checks as required.
Integrate, review and validate planning process with primary parties and government affiliations weekly to ensure compliance.
Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to government for processing.
Conduct meetings to inform key personnel of planning updates.
Work closely with Estimators to ensure information is represented in an integrated planning schedule.
Other duties as assigned.
