Job summary

KMS Solutions, LLC is seeking a Software Developer for the Marine Species Modeling Team at NUWC Newport, RI. The role focuses on translating MATLAB algorithms into production‑grade Java code, ensuring accuracy and alignment with design standards in environmental compliance modeling.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of software development experience, strong Java skills, and familiarity with MATLAB; experience with Eclipse, Jira, and GitLab is a plus. On-site with potential hybrid work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 2–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Java; familiarity with MATLAB is highly preferred.
• Experience with Eclipse, Jira, Spork/GitLab, Git; Cameo is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Translate and implement MATLAB algorithms into production‑ready Java code.
• Collaborate with MSMT modelers and engineers to validate algorithm behavior.
• Apply statistical and numerical methods to support model design and performance.
• Develop, test, and maintain software components using Java in Linux/Windows environments.
• Participate in Agile/DevSecOps workflows and produce technical documentation.
