Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Annapolis, MD seeks Systems Engineering Interns for an internship in Mission Systems. You will engage with naval and underwater systems, contribute to design and verification, and gain exposure to concepts from CONOPs to CDR.

The role offers hands-on experience with UUVs, ROVs, sensors, and digital engineering, and provides training and networking opportunities. Must be enrolled full-time in STEM, available 10 weeks Summer 2027, able to obtain U.S.

Qualifications

• Full-time student enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree for Fall 2027.
• Majoring in Math, Physics, Systems Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related STEM fields.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
• Current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Establishing mission vignettes and sensor/platform performance models to assess probability of detection and probability of engagement in mission engineering studies.
• Interpret top level requirements to create system requirements and decompose into subsystem requirements in support of product design and verification planning.
• Support system architecture development to address known customer needs through efficient and novel solutioning and generation of associated design artifacts including CONOPs, trade studies / analysis of alternatives, and definition and management of interfaces.
• Establish and integrate components of a digital design thread.
• Plan and execute integration, test, verification and validation.
• Support the preparation of technical and programmatic data packages for presentation to program, company, and customer stakeholders for internal and external informal and milestone reviews.
• Develop content and present during milestone reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, CSR.
