Job summary

Join HII's Mission Technologies Division as an Advanced Weapons Elevators (AWE) Electrician based in Chesapeake, VA. You will install, operate, maintain, repair, and support on shipboard electrical systems across naval platforms.

Travel to shipyards and bases nationally and abroad as required, with a local tasking arrangement. The role requires a strong background in marine electrical systems, tool calibration, and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have high school or trade school, with 6 years of related experience.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must understand marine electrical systems, equipment, functions, and tools.
• Experience installing, troubleshooting, testing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels.
• Must have Ford or Nimitz class carriers experience.
• Must have at least 3 years of Advance Weapons Elevator (AWE) experience.
• Must read drawings and schematics, and work packages.
• Must calibrate and repair tools/equipment on site.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Must be able to travel when not assigned to local tasking.

Responsibilities

• Support trades team by working on active class surface ships to perform alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
• Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment.
• Provide on-site training of customer support personnel when required.
• Perform quality inspections on finished products and provide on-site training as needed.
• May provide direction and lead others.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Interface with customers, manage subcontractors, and lead others.
