Job summary

IPS Powerful People seeks a Naval Architect / Engineer to design and enhance marine equipment, from dredges to support vessels, ensuring top-tier performance.

You will lead projects from concept through commissioning, interpret complex drawings, prepare engineering packages for ABS and U.S. Coast Guard approvals, and collaborate with fabrication and operations teams to meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Marine Construction.
  • Experience supporting shop fabrication, vessel modifications, and engineering projects.
  • Ability to interpret structural, mechanical, and marine construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D and MS Office to craft designs and manage projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement crucial modifications to dredges, barges, and vessels, impacting project success and efficiency.
  • Lead projects from initial design through commissioning, managing schedules, budgets, and coordinating with diverse teams.
  • Collaborate with operations, fabrication, and vessel management teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with ABS and the U.S. Coast Guard, contributing to safety and quality.
  • Prepare engineering packages and documentation for approvals and permits.
  • Provide onsite support, troubleshooting, and practical engineering solutions to keep projects moving.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field to build your foundational knowledge.

At least 5 years of experience in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Marine Construction, giving you the practical skills to excel.

Experience supporting shop fabrication, vessel modifications, and engineering projects, where you'll see your designs come to life.

The ability to interpret structural, mechanical, and marine construction drawings, translating complex plans into tangible work.

Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D, along with Microsoft Office Suite, to craft your designs and manage your projects effectively.

Knowledge of marine fabrication practices to ensure your projects are built to the highest standards.

You'll grow your expertise by preparing engineering packages for ABS and U.S. Coast Guard approval, shaping the future of marine projects.
